The Buckley Wildlife Santuary near Frankfort

 photo buckley_zps54f0c2c4.jpgThe Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary near Frankfort KY offers six miles of trails, a Nature Center, and a fantastically active Bird Blind. Families can spend the day picnicking, hiking, and identifying the many birds found in Kentucky. Entry in the Sanctuary is free, also donations are requested with a suggested donation of $6 for trail maintenance.

The Sanctuary is located at 1305 Germany Rd, Frankfort KY.

Great American Dollhouse Museum in Danville

 photo dollhousemuseum_zpscaa3470c.jpgThe Great American Dollhouse Museum in Danville, KY is a destination spot for anyone who loves vintage dollhouses and United States history. The uniqueness about this museum is that it takes museum goers on a journey through a timeline of U.S. history, through the periods of Native Americans, Colonial, Old West, Southwest, Victorian eras and ending all the way through the 20th century. As you walk through the museum, you are more interconnected with the dollhouses and the rooms than you might expect.

It is open Tuesday-Saturday 11am-5pm; closed on Sundays and Mondays. Admission is $7.50 for adults, $6.60 for seniors, $5.00 for children (4-12) and children under 4 are free!

There is also a Miniatures Store located at the museum which houses all of your needs for fitting your dollhouse to its best. If you’re looking for a more unique place to visit with your family, especially if you have doll lovers with you, head to this historic place!

FREE Kentucky Girls STEM Program

 photo stem_zpsb7e525a7.pngI caught wind of this fantastic event on Facebook and felt like you need to know about it!  It's a free event (registration required) for girls.

According to the website: "Girls Day Out program is designed to promote interest in STEM careers (science, technology, engineering & math). The workshop will allow for personal and in-depth career exploration. The students will learn about STEM careers first hand by touring and visiting a local company."

As a former math teacher and well.....a female, I think this is CRAZY AWESOME!

Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band at The Morris Bookshop - Lexington

The Stanford Drive In - Kentucky Drive In Movies since 1952

 photo sandforddrivein_zps68294227.jpgThe Stanford Drive In has been entertaining since 1952.  Southwest of Lexington, this great place is keeping an American family tradition alive. Not only do they show popular movies, they have a snack bar, flea market (open Sat/Sun 7am-4pm) and an up-to-date website that let's you know exactly what's playing.  You can get updates on their Facebook page as well.

It is open on weekends Friday through Sunday,  it opens at 7:00 pm and the movie starts at Dusk.  Movie admission for adults (12+) is $6.50, for children (4-11) it is $3.50 and children under 4 are free! They serve dinner as well as snacks! Please do not bring outside food and drink to the drive in.
