The Bourbon Festival starts in Bardstown on September 15th and runs through September 20th.

When you think of bourbon, typically family friendly doesn’t come to mind. However, the distilleries have really started making strides lately to up the family appeal.

This is especially evident with the evolution of events that are popping up at the festival of late. Of course there are events that are absolutely geared towards adults and discretion is absolutely encouraged.

That being said check out these events happening at the Bourbon Festival that your kids are sure to love!

On the first day of the festival, kicking things off is a balloon glow, in the evening of September 15th.

For the car lovers in your family there is a car show on Friday, September 18th. Getting my husband and boys to leave a car show is difficult so plan for a lot of time.

Starting on September 18th there is also a family fun area, with bounce houses, games and train rides.

On Saturday, September 19 the World Championship Barrel Relay takes place as well a ‘train

If you decide to leave the kids at home and make it an adult experience, there is a brand new attraction this year. It is called The Loft. It is a VIP lounge with a private bar and spectacular views of all of the happenings at the festival. If you choose to buy tickets to the loft, each ticket holder gets a bourbon swag bag and a chance to meet with bourbon royalty. Word is those tickets are extremely limited so if you decide to do that make sure to grab your tickets early!
