Getaway with your girlfriends before the Holiday rush!

On December 5th, businesses Bellevue, Kentucky are hosting an event that is a perfect excuse to escape with your girlfriends before the hustle and bustle of the season gets out of control.

Let's face it, the shopping and gatherings are already starting but you owe it to yourself to make some time for just you and your friends to recharge your batteries. You will be a better momma and wife I promise!

But, I digress.

If you are a fan of Gone with the Wind this event is one that shouldn't be missed. The event is called  Costumes & Candy, Barbecue & Books: Gone With the Wind Comes to Bellevue, KY.  This event gives Gone with the Wind lovers a chance to learn about the costumes used in the film and see replica gowns up close and personal!

At noon head to Mama C's Buttercream & Sprinkles to hear from Christopher Sullivan who is a leading expert on Gone with the Wind. He will share how the costumes were designed and what happened to them after the film was produced.

Avenue Brew will be serving 'a twelve oaks barbecue' and dessert will be chocolates and confections provided by Witt's End Candy Emporium.

After lunch, author Terry Lynn Crane will present "A taste of Gone with the Wind" at the candy shop. Her new book is called Fiddle Dee Dee Recipes: A Taste of "Gone with the Wind" It is a collection of recipes from the 1800s and some recipes that were used at her bed and breakfast Tarleton Oaks.

See I am telling you, this event would be fantastic to attend with your girlfriends!

Advanced tickets are required! Please email Kathy Witt (kathywitt24@gmail.com) or give her a call for more information 859-750-7668

Dickens Christmas Festival

It is just about time for the 5th annual Dickens Christmas Festival to take place once again!
The event takes place over 2 weekends:  December 5 and 6th and December 12th and 13th.

You and your family can see scenes from the classic story "A Christmas Carol" acted out during various parts of the day. I would recommend that if you haven't read this story to your kids yet, to share the story with them before going to the festival. There are some dark spots to the story so making sure they know the whole story is a good plan.

In addition to seeing the various scenes from the story there will be Christmas caroling, as well as a chance to take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

If you still have people to buy gifts for there will also be local vendors on site selling their creations.

The festival is located in Eminence, Kentucky. You can buy tickets or find more details on their site

Last Call for Family Adventure Day!

The last family adventure day of the season has arrived. If you have been yet now is the time to go since there won't be another one until 2016!

If you haven't heard of Family Adventure Day, let me enlighten you! It is a totally family friendly event that takes place at Churchill Downs right here in Louisville, Ky.

It is scheduled to take place on November 8th at 11:30am. Kroger is the title sponsor for this event which is awesome because this allows for a portion of the proceeds to go to Kosiar Children's Hospital. Win-Win, right?

You can expect all sorts of family fun like pony rides, bounce houses, petting zoos, face painting and crafts just to name a few things that you and your family can get into!

There is also a family friendly race viewing area and even a chance for your kiddos to call 'riders up' prior to a start of a race. How cool is that?!

Tickets start at $8 and can go up to $37 for indoor dining tickets.

I think it is a really cool thing to be able to experience the history and fun of Churchill Downs as a family. Who knows you might even win a little something while you are there too!
