The Shelbyville Horse Show is not to be missed!

Unless you grew up in the horse world like I did, chances are slim that the Shelbyville Horse Show is even on your radar. I am here to tell you that it should be! Nestled in the Saddlebred capital of the world, this historic show now in it’s 26th year is the pride of Shelbyville! SomerSplash in Somerset!

Did you know that Somerset has a water park? I didn’t either, but it looks pretty incredible! It is called SomerSplash! With the dog days of summer really in full swing, you have to find a way to cool off! The water park has a lazy river, a wading pool for smaller kids, tube slides, body slides and so much more! Family Events at Shaker Village

The Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill has some great family programming in addition to the traditional tours that they already offer. In the next few weeks they really have some amazing events for you to consider taking your family to. Shakespere in Smothers Park

If you feel like you need a little culture in your life for FREE this weekend, then we have an idea for you! There is a performance of The 12th Knight in Smothers Park in Owensboro, Kentucky. BreyerFest at the Kentucky Horse Park

Are you looking for something to do this weekend and crossing your fingers that the weather will be nice? We are too!  Head to the Kentucky Horse Park and check out BreyerFest. It starts on Friday July 17th and runs through Sunday July 19th. 9am to 5pm all of the days. BreyerFest is the annual model horse festival and horse fair for Breyer model horses. Issac’s Cafe at Bernheim Forest

On Tuesday of this week I was invited to Bernheim Arboreum and research center to check out all of the things that they had been working on in Issac’s Cafe. *Cue the musings that Bernheim even has a place to eat* Believe me. Fun in Peryville Kentucky!

If you have any Civil War buffs in your family, then heading to Perrville should be at the top of your Kentucky bucket list! The battlefield was the site of one of the deadliest Civil War battles in Kentucky. Today the 750 acre battlefield hosts a reenactment each October. When there isn’t a reenactment taking place visitors are welcome to explore the site and act out your own battle! Parents against kids anyone?!
