Children’s Christmas Book about Kentucky

photo IMG_5714_zpsnxestkx7.jpgRecently, Sterling Children’s Books sent me a book to review and I saved it for the holiday season for good reason. It’s called Twelve Days of Christmas in Kentucky by Evelyn B. Christensen.

The book is about a boy that goes to visit family in Kentucky and has wonderful experiences while he’s here….of course. The way to book is structured, there is a letter that he writes to his parents on the left page that’s longer and on the right side, the text is “The twelve days of Christmas” themed like the song.  It makes for great co-reading.

The book takes readers throughout Kentucky with wonderful illustrations and much to learn along the way. We read things that we already knew about our great state but definitely learning many new things.  My daughter is excited to read it again with her cousins when they come to visit from California. I believe this book will become a family tradition to read during the Christmas season.

The book is hard-cover and I found it available for under $15 on Amazon.  On Amazon, you can also flip through a preview some of the pages.  This would be a great gift for a child or family!
