Corvette Museum in Bowling Green

We recently took a road trip down to the Corvette Museum to celebrate my son’s birthday. The Corvette Museum is located in Bowling Green, KY, an easy hour and a half drive from Louisville. We arrived around 10:30am (they are on Central Time Zone) and we were happy to find out that the Corvette Rides had no wait (this is an extra cost on top of the museum price and a waiver needs to be signed). There were 3 cars to choose from and one child picked the 1966 Rally Red Convertible 327 and the other chose the 1979 Corvette

U-Pick Farms in Kentucky

There are so many reasons to look forward to spring but for our family, it is loading up and heading to a U-Pick Farm to stock up on Strawberries!  There is no competing with the sweetness and flavor of freshly picked strawberries (and blueberries).  Get them while they are still available! Last year even in the middle of a major family move from Indy to Kentucky, we still took time to pick 3 flats of strawberries to store in the freezer for Vitamin C packed smoothies. It is a family tradition that marks the beginning of our summer for our

Haney’s Appledale Farm in Nancy near Lake Cumberland

While on a visit to Lake Cumberland, I did my research as usually and found that Haney’s Appledale Farm was mentioned numerous times.  There are few things that I like better than farm fun (and pie) so we ventured there one afternoon for a treat –  I was sold at ‘bakery’! Located on Highway 80, it was really easy to find. It was very close to Pulaski County Park – which we also enjoyed on our visit.  The farm store is inviting with rockers out front and a large opening to the farm store on the right side of the

Visiting Fort Boonesborough in Richmond

I love Kentucky. As the saying goes, I wasn’t born here, but I got here as quickly as I could. And along with my love for all things Kentucky, our state parks are tops on my list. This particular Saturday’s adventure led us to Fort Boonesborough in Richmond. Fort Boonesborough has been reconstructed as a working fort complete with cabins, blockhouses and furnishings. Resident artisans perform craft demonstrations and give modern-day visitors a true sense of what life was like for pioneers in Kentucky. Open daily from 9-5 April through October, the admission fees to the fort are well worth

Review of Kentucky Dam Village/Kentucky Lake

The extended family (all 7 of us) were lucky enough to secure an executive cottage for a short family vacation to a Kentucky Dam Village.  Be sure to book well-in advance for a holiday weekend because we were only able to get our cottage because of a cancellation….that’s how we were lucky!  The cottages, while still adorned in vintage aesthetics, had Wi-Fi & cable, and were clean, spacious and very nice overall. Also nice is the towel service that comes around every morning to see if you need clean towels. We loved that each cottage had a camp-style outdoor grill,
