My family loves picking local fruits, so every summer we try to get in some time for strawberry and blueberry picking. On recommendation by a friend, we tried a new blueberry place this year called Blues End Farm. The farm is in Shelbyville, just about 30 minutes from Louisville just a few miles from I-64. Everyone – Kentucky Tourism has put together an AMAZING set of fun places to go and things to do throughout the summer months.  They highlight they fantastic fun that families can enjoy right here in Kentucky without have to travel far.  You know those super long car rides are hard on everyone and airfare can be so expensive.  So from festivals to lakes, Kentucky Tourism shows that we have it all right here.  Family Fun in Kentucky doesn’t have to cost a lot. In fact we found some places that are downright affordable! Save this list for a rainy day and surprise your kiddos! 1. Recently, Sterling Children’s Books sent me a book to review and I saved it for the holiday season for good reason. It’s called Twelve Days of Christmas in Kentucky by Evelyn B. Christensen. My daughter and I read the book together, I read the left page and she read the right page. The book is about a boy that goes to visit family in Kentucky and has wonderful experiences while he’s here….of course. Tickets to the Louisville Zoo’s Santa’s Safari are now on sale at www.louisvillezoo.org/santa. This past weekend, my family of 4 met some friends at Boyd Orchard in Versailles, Kentucky. They are mainly an apple orchard, but clearly work hard to get a lot of people to come to their pumpkin patch because they have many different activities for families centered around pumpkins!
