Fall Family Fun at the Salato Wildlife Center

With cooler temps on the way, are you itching to get outside with the family…..in jeans and hoodies?  Indeed, it’s that time of year.  We love the Salato Wildlife Center in Frankfort and we are not the only ones.  It’s a well-kept place to visit that’s not as commercial as a big zoo but not as rustic as a nature preserve.  It’s a wonderful place to spend a day! Check out this helpful post by LexFun4Kids about Fall events at the Salato Wildlife Center. Here’s a review by Louisville Family Fun as well.  Click here. Stephanie

The Children’s Garden at the University of Kentucky Arboretum

Recently, I decided to take my family and meet some friends at the children’s garden at the UK arboretum in Lexington. The Parklands of Floyds Fork – East Louisville

The Parklands of Floyds Fork is a large park system in East Louisville. When it is completed in 2015, it will include five separate but connected parks that will comprise a quarter of the Louisville Loop. There are hiking and biking trails, grasslands and wetlands, canoeing and fishing spots, a dog park, and playgrounds and spraygrounds. This is my family’s go-to spot for after work and weekend hiking. It’s close by, clean, and has excellent facilities, and it seems to have new hiking trails every time we go. We usually start off near the water fountain at Beckley Creek Park.
